Ethiopian Dignitaries Visit Northern Utah Families

13. July, 2016Featured, UncategorizedNo comments

West Sands Adoptions thanks our wonderful Northern Utah families for opening up their hearts and homes to four Ethiopian officials who visited in late June, 2016. It was a joyous and successful visit in which children were able to see these important guests from their country. Many children did native dances, played instruments, and otherwise entertained the distinguished guests with their giggles and playfulness. The feelings of warmth and love were overwhelming. The dignitaries talked with the children and had a wonderful time seeing how well they are thriving in their new homes. Because of the generosity and hospitality of these wonderful adoptive families and their children, the meetings, gatherings, and visit with our Ethiopian officials went very well. Thank you everyone who participated in these important events.

Support a School in Ethiopia

West Sands Adoptions is looking for donors to help support The West Sands Primary School in Adama, Ethiopia. The School in Adama gives an opportunity for education to children who would normally not have the privilege of going to school, including children who live in orphanage care. In a country where the literacy rate is estimated below 50% there is a great need for privately funded schools.

The monthly cost to operate the school for 2016 will be $1,500 per month. We are looking for donations of any amount but hope to find donors who can commit to at least one month.

West Sands Adoptions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and your generous donation will be recognized with a thank you letter that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes. Donations can be sent to the West Sands Office at 1240 East 100 South #1, St. George, UT 84790 or paid vial PayPal using the button below

By donating to this cause you are helping ensure a brighter future for over 350 needy children in Ethiopia! Thank you for your support, please share!

The children available through our program range in age from 0-14 years old with relatively short wait times. Healthy and special needs children are available for adoption from Taiwan. Children come into care under different circumstances, the most common reason is when a birth mother is unable to provide care and upbringing, some children are referred into care by the local social service department. Looking for families to adopt boys

2. May, 2014Featured, UncategorizedNo comments

iStock_000020228938Medium_600x400For years, families have adopted baby girls from China. You may have heard that adoption from China takes over 8 years and this is true for healthy infant adoptions but families who are willing to adopt an older child or a child with medical needs such as cleft lip/palate, club foot, vision impairments, heart conditions or developmental delays can have a relatively short wait, with adoptions being completed in as little as a year from start to finish. What many families do not know is that there are currently more boys with medical needs available for adoption in China than girls. For so long, the idea has been to adopt girls who were unwanted in China because of a social preference for boys. That social preference is changing as more Chinese families are either allowed to keep more than one child, or as baby girls in China are being adopted by their foster families. However, boys with medical needs seem to be prevalent on China’s Waiting Child list, and are being sent to orphanages in greater numbers. Because many families still want to adopt girls from China, it can be harder to find homes for boys who are waiting for adoption. Please view this video from Love Without Boundaries about the need for adoptive families for boys CLICK HERE.

Contact West Sands Adoptions if you are interested in adopting a boy from China! You can read more about our program on our China page.
